Running Club

Get outdoors with your kids for a little fresh air and exercise! We are working on endurance with the goal of perhaps participating in a race later this year. Kids will run a bit, socialize, play, and maybe run a little more! All ability levels welcome including those who prefer to walk.

Have a kiddo that is interested in photography and/or wants to help create a fun memento from this school year? Let us know if you are interested!

Brittany has started a Google photo album where we can start leaving our photos so there isn't a crunch at the end of the year and the kids can start planning early. Even if you are not planning to participate in the Yearbook Club, please let us know if you are interested in having your kids IN the yearbook! The kids can start collecting photos of your children and you can start adding photos to the album as well!

Autism Awareness and Acceptance Fundraiser

We are big fans of Studio Ghibli around here! The theater is small, but so far we have booked out half of it. Come join us and start your Thanksgiving break with a fun, family-friendly movie! My kids have been attending the annual Halloween Wrightwood Library Show basically since birth! At this point, it's tradition. It is almost always a magic show of some sort and lasts about an hour. The Wild Robot Movie

We (the Scharfes) are planning to go see the new Wild Robot movie. If anyone would like to join us, my kids would love to turn this into a homeschool movie day. The Wild Robot movie is based on a FANTASTIC book by the same name that my kids absolutely loved. The movie is animated and rated PG and has great reviews. There is also a free homeschool unit study that goes along with the movie. (Thanks, Alyssa, for sharing! 😊) If you are interested in joining us, let me know and I will keep you apprised of our plans! Rockhounding Outdoor Family Adventure

Ticketmaster fees can be a nightmare, so I'm putting together a group to get discounted tickets to shows I want to see next year at Pantages. Here are the options:

Wicked - Thursday, January 9, evening - $83/ticket

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Thursday, March 7, evening  - $65.60/ticket

I'm assuming the shows start around 7 pm and probably end around 10 pm, so they will be late nights! Ideally, I am aiming to get tickets at the front of the balcony (section D). If you'd like to go, 20% will be due mid-July, then the remaining 80% is due 60 days before the show. Let me know if you'd like to be reserve seats for either show!

Grassy Hollow Outdoor Family Adventure

We will hike from Grassy Hollow to Jackson Flat via PCT. The hike will take roughly 2-3 hours. We'll hydrate, picnic and hangout in day use after the hike. No fee or pass needed to park at Grassy Hollow parking lot. Grassy Hollow is 7400 feet in elevation. Dogs welcome on leashes. No Restroom on site. Friends and Families all welcome!

Over the past couple months, kids from our community have been taking art and entrepreneur classes with Growing Up Rooted. Come enjoy a hot cocoa bar and cookies while you admire their masterpieces and shop for christmas gifts from these budding entrepreneurs. Items for sale will include lip balms, magic wands, greeting cards, bracelets, perfume, and dehydrated fruit.

Bonita Falls near Lytle Creek is probably the closest impressive waterfall to us here in the Tri-Community. The last part is a bit steep, but it is less than one mile each way making it a relatively easy hike. Message for more info regarding time and meeting spot!

Kid's Geology Walk

This 4-hour class will tour the Wrightwood mountains under a geologic lens with instructor and geologist Carter Hafif. We will take a look at the large-scale geologic events that have taken place to form the San Gabriel mountains, and how it has influenced local mineralogy. Geared for kids ages 7-14. Simple Machines & Gadgets Starts
